Volunteer Programs

  • Volunteer of the Month

Each month the executive board will be selecting someone who has gone above and beyond in helping to volunteer around the school!  The volunteer of the Month will get a little token of appreciation from the PTA and recognition on our website.

We appreciate all of our volunteers and everything you do!  THANK YOU!

  • What has been a highlight of serving the BES community?
Getting to know the families at our school and forming relationships with other parents while volunteering.

What are 3 words you would use to describe PTA?
    Innovative, Hardworking, Welcoming

What have you gained from serving in the PTA?
Lifelong friends, insight into the inner workings of PTA and the school, and an appreciation for all that goes on behind the scenes of school/PTA events and programs.

What is the most challenging thing about serving in PTA?
Finding a balance between volunteer time, family time, household chores, and busy schedules for all three boys. Thankfully, our PTA has a variety of volunteer opportunities so parents can find a “Job” that fits their lifestyle best.

  • What has been a highlight of serving the BES community?
Being involved with the Book Fair the last 4 years, I am now able to recommend books that I know kids will love at all age/reading levels. Becoming that knowledgeable about kids literature, and being able to share my love for reading with families across BES is a JOY for me. I tell people now, “Buy a $5 book and write in it, instead of a greeting card!” When we receive a book with a gift at a birthday party, I know I’m making an impact.

What are 3 words you would use to describe PTA?
Necessary & Game changing (for a school when run well)

What have you gained from serving in the PTA?
I have gained the certainty to say that the investment we make in our school (be it monetary or time) MATTERS. The kids and staff directly benefit from the effort we put forth to improve the school, provide for the teachers and make these elementary years rich with educational experiences as well as provide fun, lasting memories. Knowing this, I would encourage every parent to donate a few hours of their time each year at BES… imagine the difference it would make in our community (not to mention the example you will set for your children)!

What is the most challenging thing about serving in PTA?
Saying “No” to more & more! There are endless needs for volunteers at BES and it can be time consuming; but when I hear my boys proudly tell others what Mom does at school, it is all worth it.

  • What has been a highlight of serving the BES community?
I have really enjoyed getting involved with the kids, parents, and teachers this year and having the opportunity to meet so many people.  I loved to see all the smiles and fun that the kids had on walk to school day this year.  We have such a great community and it is nice to get to meet everyone and connect.

What are 3 words you would use to describe PTA?
    Dedicated, Caring, Creative

What have you gained from serving in the PTA?
I have had the opportunity to learn about the ways that the our PTA supports our school, how the funds we donate are used, and how beneficial having a committed PTA can be for our kids.  I am fortunate to volunteer with a very committed group of moms and dads and it is nice to see how much we all value our kids, our school, and our community.

What is the most challenging thing about serving in PTA?
For me, juggling a full time job, kids after school sports and homework, and a little time for my husband can make finding time to volunteer challenging.  I am fortunate that our PTA has many different levels of time commitment needed for serving so I was able to find one that worked with my schedule.

  • What has been a highlight of serving the BES community?
After all the countless hours put into planning the event it was awesome to see it all come together and be such a fun event for our school and community.

What have you gained from serving in the PTA?
Getting to know all of the great teachers, PTA members and kids at BES

What is the most challenging thing about serving in PTA?
Not towards the PTA- but just myself. I have a lot to do and not a lot of time to do it! I wish I could volunteer more.
